Was in Japan with dearie and some friends last week. As we were driving alongthe streets of Hokkaido we stopped by a local Mac Donalds outlet for a quick bite.We wanted to try the Drive-Through ordering system, but raised the white flag soon, after the 'chicken-and-duck' talk. So walked in we did.
Just when we thought that placing our orders at the counter would be an equally challenging task, a flip of the menu card by the restaurant crew showed us the English equivalent. Ala-Peanut butter and jelly sandwich! (No, the item is not on their menu, readers who watch Sesame Street should get what i mean).
2 items (Mc Pork and Mega Tamago) caught my attention (although there were more local items such as: Mega Mac and Ebi Fry burger).
Being not very hungry, I decided to try a "Mc Pork" at 100 Yen. (My fellow Singaporean companions couldn't help chuckling, Mc Pork, Mc Pork...)
With lettuce, mayo and special sauce sandwiched between a normal (non-sesame) bun, the S$1.30 burger is quite a reasonable space filler for the tummy after lunch and before dinner.
The 'Pork' patty feels like very much like the 'Chicken' from a Sausage Mc Muffin served during breakfast.
We dearly miss our chilli sauce as the restaurant chain only provided mustard and tomato ketchup.
